Zollhaus

The Zollhaus residential park in Nuremberg dates back to a housing project in the 1950s, which was intended to alleviate the housing shortage after the Second World War. Starting in 1957, architect Gerhard G. Dittrich oversaw the construction of single-family homes, four-story apartment buildings, seven- and nine-story arcade buildings, an eight-story point block, and a sixteen-story high-rise. When planning the residential complex, great importance was attached to green spaces, and it was required that there be a green space connection. Zollhaus is considered a high-quality example of 1950s architecture, and has been listed as a historic monument since 1999.
